Schmitz, James H.. Witches of Karres, The.
(Riverdale, NY: Baen, 1966) 16.00.

First Bean hardcover edition. Unread. Fine in fine dust jacket. Science Fiction (#10530) ISBN: 0743488377

Unlucky at love, unsuccessful in business, Captain Pausert thought he had finally made good after traveling all over the explored galaxy in his battered starship. And then he made the mistake of freeing three poor little slave children from their masters (who were suspiciously eager to sell their servitors). No good deed goes unpunished, and it happened that the three little girls were from the notorious and forbidden world called Karres. Suddenly, he had enemies all over the cosmos, including his his home planet, the Empire, the Sirians, a dread space pirate, and even the Worm World (though that last one was also the enemy of all intelligent beings, whether they knew it or not), and all because he had committed the crime of associating with three little girls, who were really The Witches of Karres. A rollicking novel filled with good humor and fast-paced action from the master of space adventure. Recommended.
